Fernlow is a small practice of four therapists in a converted print shop off Alder Street. We see adults and couples who feel stuck, anxious, worn out or just not quite themselves, and we go at a pace that feels safe.

Step-free rooms with a garden door, so you can arrive and leave without walking through a waiting room if you'd rather not.
Neurodivergent-friendly. We send a short plan before your first session, you can take breaks whenever you like, and online sessions work fine with the camera off.
Mornings, evenings and Saturdays, because life doesn't stop for a 2 pm appointment.
Five ways in. Every one of them starts with a free, unhurried 15-minute call.
One-to-one sessions for adults. We look at what keeps repeating in your moods, relationships and days, and work out together what could change.
Ask about thisFor couples who keep having the same argument, or have stopped talking. Sessions with both of you, and now and then one-to-one.
Ask about thisWorry that won't switch off, panic, burnout, bad sleep. Practical things to try on the hard days, and time to understand where it comes from.
Ask about thisVideo or phone, from wherever you feel comfortable. Camera off is fine. Good for busy weeks, small towns and anyone who'd rather stay home.
Ask about thisA short, no-pressure chat to see if we're a good fit. Ask anything about how we work. If we're not right for you, we'll suggest where to look.
Book the callFour steps
No forms to fill in beforehand and no pressure to commit. You can stop at any step.
Send the form or ring us. We'll find 15 minutes that suit you, by phone or video, and answer whatever you want to ask.
Your first session is about getting to know you. You don't need to know what to say. Working that out is part of our job.
Most people come weekly, some fortnightly. Every few weeks we look back together at how it's going and what to change.
There's no minimum number of sessions. When you feel ready to stop, we plan a last session together so it ends well.
Four therapists with different backgrounds and one shared habit: listening first, advice later, and only if you want it.

Lower-fee places from $55. We keep a few each week for students and anyone on a tight budget. Ask on your intro call, no proof needed.
Cancelling is free up to 48 hours before a session. After that we charge the full fee, unless something truly unexpected happened.
I put off calling for a year. The intro call was so ordinary and kind that I booked a first session the same week.
We came in barely speaking. Tomás never took sides, which was exactly what we needed. We still use the “pause” he taught us.
Being allowed to keep my camera off is the only reason online sessions worked for me. Nobody made it a thing.
Ruth gave me things to try on the bad days, not just things to think about. My sleep came back before I noticed.
The things people usually ask before the first call.
No. You can contact us directly. If you're already seeing a doctor or psychiatrist, you're welcome to tell us on the intro call, but it isn't required.
It's 15 minutes by phone or video. We ask what's bringing you to therapy in a sentence or two, explain how we work and answer your questions. Then you decide, with no follow-up emails if you'd rather not.
Yes. What you share stays between you and your therapist. The rare exceptions, such as a serious risk to someone's safety, are explained in plain words in your first session.
It depends on you. Some people come for six sessions, others for a year or longer. We review together every few weeks, and you can stop whenever you want.
Yes, at any time and for any reason. Just let your therapist know before the session.
No. We can't respond to urgent situations and we don't monitor messages out of hours. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number.
